Business Process Management (BPM) has delivered successfully both as a management approach as well as a technology platform. Although, BPM is primarily driven by business objectives, this session will debate the role of BPM for achieving control objectives stemming from compliance requirements.
Session organizers:
Dr. Shazia Sadiq, School of Information Technology and Electrical Engineering, The University of Queensland. Shazia has several years of research as well as practical experience in enterprise software solutions, particularly in business process management and related technologies.
Dr. Marta Indulska, School of Business, The University of Queensland. Marta’s main area of research focus is conceptual modeling and Business Process Management. In this space, she has contributed to evaluations of numerous modeling standards.
Dr. Guido Governatori, School of Information Technology and Electrical Engineering, The University of Queensland. Guido’s main research interest is on models of normative reasoning and their applications, in particular to representation and monitoring of e-contracts.

The session organizers are also involved in a study investigating compliance management within Australian Organizations. The motivation behind the research is to align innovation within the research community to industry demands. The long term objective of the study is to create an in-depth understanding of compliance requirements and how these can be met through technology or other solutions.
